Senior Nick Kuechle and junior Ava Peterson were selected as Students of the Week for Oct. 9-13 at Litchfield High School
Ag and industrial arts teacher John Spanos nominated Kuechle, who is enrolled in advanced metalworking and construction technology classes.
“He is a leader by example and always available to help other students during class,” Spanos wrote in his nomination. “His willingness to work on both metals projects and the school house during his free period is a testament to his dedication and positive attitude.
“Nick is a pleasure to work with and is respected by his peers and instructor,” Spanos added.
Kuechle participates in football, hockey, golf and trapshooting at LHS, in addition to being an FFA club member. Outside of school, his interests and hobbies include hunting, fishing and mechanics.
He is the son of Mitch and Kristi Kuechle of Litchfield.
Social studies teacher Wyatt Quiring nominated Peterson, who he said “excels in every assignment she completes for geography and has a high understanding of the subject matter. She goes above and beyond on her assignments to turn in the best work she can.”
Peterson is an active class participant, Quiring wrote, saying she “demonstrates good leadership skills as well when working with partners or small groups.”
Quiring also highlighted Peterson’s positive attitude and respect for peers and instructors.
“Ava listens actively while I am speaking and follows the classroom expectations,” he wrote. “Ava comes into class every day with a fun energy, creating a more fun learning environment for her and her peers.”
Peterson plays basketball at LHS. Outside of school, she said she enjoys working out, cleaning, shopping/clothes and ’90s R&B and hip-hop.
She is the daughter of Sarah Rue and Matthew Unger of Litchfield.
