Wintercade was not on Lake Ripley this year.
Due to the extreme cold forecasted for Feb. 9, the Wintercade Committee relocated the event to the Litchfield Fire Hall, 227 N. Ramsey Ave. The contest began at the same time from 1-3 p.m. Saturday.
The Wintercade Committee said they wanted to ensure the safety of Wintercade volunteers and those attending. The forecast predicted a minus 25 wind chill for Saturday. The committee said the new location offered a better barrier from the 15-mile-per-hour winds predicted.
For those who were worried, all of the prizes were given out. To win the door prizes, door prize ticket holders had to be present. All fish prizes were drawn from the door prize stubs from those attending. Wintercade ticket holders did not need to be there to win the main cash prizes. Main prize winners will receive a check in the mail.
