A man involved in a standoff situation Thursday evening is at large.
The Meeker County Sheriff's Office is searching for Anthony Steven Kalland, 38, of Brainerd who has three outstanding felony warrants in Crow Wing, Sherburne and Renville counties. He is considered armed and potentially dangerous.
Kalland is wanted on charges of domestic assault, felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a stolen vehicle. Anyone who sees Kalland should immediately call 911. The Meeker County Sheriff's Office advises that he should not be approached.
On Dec. 27, around noon, the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from a home in Harvey Township near the 58400 block of CSAH 16 for a possible domestic situation. The caller said a man, later identified as Kalland, brandished a revolver. The caller was able to flee the residence, and deputies arrived on the scene.
After confirming Kalland was at the residence, deputies established a perimeter. Kalland failed to respond to deputies on scene, despite attempts by the sheriff's office to communicate with the suspect. The Meeker County Sheriff's office called the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office Tactical and Negotiation Teams for assistance. Kalland refused to communicate or comply with deputies. The standoff continued into the evening, and Kalland used the cover of darkness to sneak through an outer perimeter line and escape.
Deputies and Litchfield police searched multiple locations that Kalland went to after leaving the residence. Through a search warrant, deputies recovered a stolen vehicle, ammunition and drug paraphernalia, but the firearm was not located.
Anyone with information on Kalland’s whereabouts should call the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office at 320-693-5400.
