Police arrested an Eagan man on Christmas after he allegedly fled authorities in Meeker County.

At 7:31 p.m., the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office received a driving complaint regarding a vehicle eastbound from Litchfield on U.S. Highway 12. The caller said the driver was on the shoulder and speeding.

A sheriff’s deputy found the vehicle, and attempted to stop it after a speed reading indicated it was driving faster than 90 MPH. The sheriff’s deputy also reported seeing the driver moving erratically in and out of traffic.

The driver turned off of U.S. Highway 12 in Darwin Township and trough a resident’s yard before driving through a field. The driver then went into the ditch along Highway 12, and crashed. According to a report, the driver was uncooperative but was taken into custody without further incident.

The driver, Timothy J. Otis, 57, of Eagan for allegedly fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle and for suspicion he was driving under the influence. The pursuit lasted for approximately 5 minutes. No one was injured. Sheriff’s deputies also found a small amount of marijuana.
