At its final meeting of 2018 last Thursday, the McLeod County Board took a final look at salaries for the new year.

In keeping with a compensation increase for union and non-union employees, elected officials received a 3 percent raise for 2019:

  • County Attorney Michael Junge will earn $121,970.

The board also approved a salary increase for its members of 3 percent, bringing it to $30,233. Mileage and per diem — pay granted to board members for a day they are at an official county meeting — stayed the same.

Last year, board member salary increased 3 percent, resulting in a 2018 salary of $29,352. In 2017, the board member salary was $28,497, the same as 2016.

The county's per diem rate increased a year ago from $50 to $75 for a day of work shorter than four hours, and from $75 to $125 for a day of work four hours or longer. Per diem payments vary from year to year, and from board member to board member, based on the number of meetings their committee assignments call for, ranging from around $2,000 to $10,000.

Mileage reimbursement is 35 cents per mile.
