Carole June Hannemann, 88, of Hutchinson passed away Sept. 29 at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson. Funeral service was Friday at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson with interment in the church cemetery. Clergy officiating was the Rev. Glenn Meyer. Organist was Dr. Joan DeVee Dixon. Congregational hymns were “Holy God We Praise Thy Name,” “A Mighty Fortress,” “What A Friend We Have In Jesus” and “I Walk In Danger All The Way.” Casket bearers were, Alan Hannemann, Anthony Hannemann, Ken Hill, Brandon Reed, Zac Remer and Caleb Larson.

She was born May 8, 1935, in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of the Rev. Andrew J.H. and Ola (Frey) Frinke. Carole was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth. She received her education in Depew, New York, and was salutatorian of the Depew High School class of 1952. Carole furthered her education at the University of Rochester in New York, where she received a bachelor of arts degree and master of arts degree in history.

On Sept. 3, 1960, Carole was united in marriage to the Rev. Herman Hannemann at Grace Lutheran Church in Broomall, Pennsylvania. This marriage was blessed with four children, Andrew, Alan, Amy and Anthony. Carole and Herman resided in Hutchinson. They shared 62 years of marriage until Herman passed away Nov. 4, 2022.

Carole taught three years at two Lutheran high schools in the St. Louis area. She also taught at a Lutheran High School in St. Paul. Carole worked at Young America Corp. for eight years and Hager Jewelry in Hutchinson, in addition to giving piano lessons at home, before retiring in 2012. She was an active member of Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, serving in the church choir and playing organ.

Carole enjoyed singing and was part of the Austin Symphony Chorus as well as the Hutchinson Community Chorus. She also enjoyed playing cards, sewing and decorating her home. Carole especially cherished time spent with her family, grandchildren and friends.

Carole is survived by her children, Andrew Hannemann of Mounds View, Alan Hannemann of Apple Valley, Amy Hill and her husband, Ken, of Monticello, Anthony Hannemann of Hutchinson; grandchildren Elizabeth and Drew Hannemann; Kelsey, Nathaniel, and Moriah Hannemann, Ashley (Zac) Remer, Emily (Brandon) Reed, and Kayla (Caleb) Larson; great-granddaughter, Eleanor Reed; siblings, Walter N. Hannemann and his wife, Anita, of Park Rapids, Reitz Hannemann of Tyler, Laura Luehmann and her husband, Rev. Alfred, of Gaylord; many other relatives and friends.

Carole was preceded in death by her parents, the Rev. Andrew J.H. and Ola Frinke; husband, the Rev. Herman Hannemann.
