Phyllis Irene Erickson, 88, known to her loved ones as Phyl, peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on Sept. 22, in Coon Rapids. Services will be at Epiphany Catholic Church in Coon Rapids on Monday Oct. 30. Visitation begins at 9:30 a.m. with funeral services to follow at 10:30 a.m.
Phyl was born on Aug. 4, 1935, in Litchfield, to parents Sylvester and Rosella (Meierhofer) Quast. Phyl graduated from Litchfield High School in 1953. After graduation she moved to Minneapolis and worked for Target Corporation for 24 years. In 1956 she married Willis Erickson at St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Forest City. From this union three children completed their family: Jeff, (partner Darleen Bradley), Susan (Omar Guimaraes), and Lori (Scott Clark).
Phyl was a founding member of The Epiphany Catholic Church in Coon Rapids where she worshiped and was actively involved in Eucharistic Ministry, Women's Circle, along with many music programs and the Schola Choir.
She eagerly involved herself in a variety of community organizations some of which included, the Miss America Program at both the local and state level, the Lions, the Jaycees and the VFW Auxiliary.
Phyl's presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May she rest in eternal peace.
She is survived but her loving husband of 67 years; her children, four grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; sister, Diane (Quast) Vorlicek; along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Lovern Quast, Arlene (Quast) Hanson, Eugene Quast; grandson, Adam Erickson.
The Washburn-McReavy Funeral Home in Coon Rapids is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
