Thomas “Tom” Clarence Callier, 79, of Hutchinson passed away Oct. 4 at St. Cloud Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial was Oct. 11 at St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson with interment in the church cemetery. Memorials preferred to Hutchinson DAV, St. Jude’s Children's Hospital or Heart of MN Animal Shelter in Hutchinson. Clergy officiating was the Rev. Paul Wolf. Pianist was Bonnie Westmiller. Song leader was Lucy Newcomb. Soloist was Wade Bryan who sang “The Lord’s Prayer.” Musical selections were “Here I Am, Lord,” “On Eagle’s Wings,” “Be Not Afraid,” “Prayer of St. Francis,” “Our Father,” “Song of Farewell” and “Battle Hymn of the Republic.” Urn bearers were Sam and Sylvia Callier. Military honors were by Hutchinson Memorial Rifle Squad.
Tom was born Feb. 13, 1944, in Stewart, the son of Francis and Grace (Rosenow) Callier. He was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in his faith as a youth at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Stewart. He received his education in Stewart and was a graduate of the Stewart High School class of 1962.
Tom entered active military service in the United States Navy on Dec. 3, 1962, and served his country during Vietnam aboard the USS Boyd (DD-544). He received an honorable discharge Dec. 2, 1966, achieving the rate of Storekeeper 3rd Class.
On Aug. 18, 1973, Tom was united in marriage to Susan Mary Zanoth at St. John’s Catholic Church in Hector. This marriage was blessed with two children, Rusty and Annette. Tom and Sue resided in Hutchinson. They shared 50 years of marriage.
Tom was employed in construction with Rockite Silo and as a maintenance supervisor for Mid Country Bank, both in Hutchinson. He retired from the bank in 2016 but kept busy working for the Village Co-op and various individuals needing maintenance help. Tom was a member of St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson. He was also a member of the St. Anastasia Knights of Columbus and the Hutchinson American Legion Post 96.
Tom enjoyed raising and training animals. For many years he rode with the Western Mounted Paraders, riding his horse in many different parades throughout Minnesota and obedience training his labs and retrievers for local dog shows. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling. Tom especially loved spending time with his family, grandchildren and friends.

Tom is survived by his wife, Susan Callier, of Hutchinson; son, Rustin “Rusty” Callier, and his wife, Elizabeth “Ellie” of Shakopee; daughter Annette Monson and her husband, Keith, of Shakopee; grandchildren, Samuel “Sam” and Sylvia Callier; sisters June Dawson of Hutchinson, Patricia Flemming of Hutchinson, Katherine Holt of Florida, Linda Callier and her husband, Jerry, of Dassel, Wendy Callier of Hutchinson, and Mary Callier and her significant other, Bob Hansen, of Rochester; and many other relatives and friends.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Grace Callier; brother Kenneth “KC” Callier; sister-in-law, Ruth Callier; brother-in-law Bob Flemming; and the significant other of June Dawsen, Chuck Calhoun.
