The Renville County Sheriff’s Office reported a structure fire Friday afternoon in Martinsburg Township.
At about 3:24 p.m., the sheriff’s office received a 911 call reporting a fire at Schweiss Bi-Fold Doors on the 72000 block of 470th Street. The business is owned by Michael Schweiss, 65, of Hector.
The preliminary investigation revealed that there was a fire within one of the walls of the robotic welding shop. The fire is believed to have started after a large exterior gutter had been welded to the building the previous day, and the wall and ceiling insulation began to smolder and eventually caught fire due to the heat caused from welding.
There were no injuries reported and the damage value estimate had not been made.
Other agencies assisting were Fairfax Fire Department, Hector Fire Department, Hector Ambulance Service and Fairfax Ambulance Service.
