Dassel-Cokato/Litchfield finished eighth in the Section 3A Swimming and Diving Meet Saturday at Hutchinson.
Hutchinson won its fifth-consecutive section championship with 403 points, while Dassel-Cokato/Litchfield had 126 points. The Charging Dragons did not have any swimmers advance to the state meet.
Junior Will Carlson had the Charging Dragons’ top individual performance, finishing ninth in the 100-yard backstroke. His time of 59.73 seconds was actually the eighth-fastest time in the event Saturday, but he was swimming in the consolation heat after Thursday’s preliminaries.
Carlson also took 13th in the 200 individual medley, in addition to swimming with the 200 medley and 400 freestyle relay teams.
Junior Mathias Slinden finished 10th in the 200 freestyle and 14th in the 500 freestyle, in addition to swimming two freestyle relays.
The Charging Dragons’ top finishes came in the relays. DCL’s team of juniors Carlson and Evan Johnson, sophomore Matthew Defries and freshman Parker Josephson took sixth in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:48.18.
DCL’s 200 freestyle relay team of Elijah Slinden, Mathias Slinden, Defries and Dominic Borg also finished sixth, touching in with a time of 1:34.79.
The 400 freestyle relay team of the Slinden brothers, Evan Johnson and Carlson took seventh with a time of 3:28.12.
