Hutchinson Police Services reported the following incidents:
NOV. 27: At 8:39 a.m., a gas drive-off was reported at Kwik Trip. An officer met with an employee who said a younger looking man in a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am wearing an Under Armour sweatshirt and blue jeans left without paying for $37.90 in gas. The person, whose name was on the car's registration, said he sold the vehicle in August and gave the officer that person's name. It is under investigation.
NOV. 29: At 7:27 a.m., a crash occurred at the intersection of School Road and Roberts Road. A 17-year-old girl from Hutchinson was southbound on School Road in a 2008 Ford when she stopped at the stop sign, looked and continued. Dana Thunstrom of Hutchinson was on Roberts in a 2009 Ford and had the right of way when the girl struck her. There was moderate damage to the 17-year-old's vehicle and minor damage to Thunstrom's. The 17-year-old was cited for failure to yield the right of way.
NOV. 30: At 12:20 p.m., a crash occurred near the Dairy Queen. Bethany Mayfield of Cokato was northbound in a 2009 Hyundai on Main Street. Kerstin Weibel of Cokato was northbound in a 2012 Ford in front of Mayfield. A pickup truck was ahead of them, sped off, and then suddenly stopped. Weibel avoided the truck but was rear-ended by Mayfield, causing moderate damage to Mayfield's and minor damage to Weibel's vehicle.
DEC. 1: At 8:33 a.m., a city park employee reported property damage to a bathroom window in Rotary Park, which occurred sometime overnight. This is the second time a window has been broken this fall. It cost $200 to repair.
DEC. 2: At 12:21 p.m., a member of Seventh-day Adventist Church called to report a suspicious person. A man entered the church and sat down for service and he appeared to be under the influence. He remained seated after the service when the officer approached him. He was identified as Garrett Ricky Norby, 27, of Hutchinson and had a body-only warrant out of Kandiyohi County for disorderly conduct. He was taken to the McLeod County Jail.
At 1:16 p.m., a crash occurred in the Menards parking lot. Jacob Dostal of Hutchinson was in a 1999 Jeep and Gerald Henning of Hutchinson was in a 2002 Chevrolet. They were backing out of their parking spaces at the same time and collided. There was no damage to Dostal's vehicle and minor damage to Henning's.
DEC. 4: At 5:12 p.m., a crash occurred at 850 School Road S.W. Nicole Mrkvicka of Hutchinson was southbound on School Road in a 2007 Jeep and was attempting to make a left turn. Jerred Stacey of Hutchinson was also southbound in a 2006 Ford and he reached for an object on the dashboard. When he looked up, he did not have enough time to stop and and rear-ended Mrkvicka, causing moderate damage to both vehicles. Stacey was cited for failure to drive with due care.
At 7:09 p.m., a theft was reported in the 600 block of Hillcrest Road Northeast. An officer spoke with the victim who said he had been away for a while. When he returned, his two wedding rings and some beef in a freezer were taken. The rings were described as gold with three small diamonds and black tungsten with a blue ring around it. There was no evidence of a break-in and no suspects. Items were valued at $1,625.
DEC. 5: At 11:53 a.m., a single-vehicle crash occurred at 255 State Highway 7 E. Joel Sandeen of Hutchinson was reversing his 2009 Ford and hit a retaining wall behind him. His vehicle received minor damage.
At 12:04 p.m., a single-vehicle crash occurred on School Road near Lakeview Lane Southwest. A 17-year-old Hutchinson boy was southbound on School Road in a 2000 Ford on icy roads with blowing snow. He was on a curve when he lost control and struck a light pole. He was cited for failure to drive with due care.
At 5:14 p.m., a crash occurred at Fifth Avenue and Adams Street Southeast. Richard Baumann of Winsted was stopped facing east in a 2007 Chevrolet. Kristin Snapp of Hutchinson was eastbound in a 2002 Ford approaching Baumann. Snapp could not stop in time due to icy roads and rear-ended Baumann, causing minor damage to Snapp's vehicle and no damage to Baumann's.
DEC. 6: At 11:50 a.m., a single-vehicle crash occurred at 1018 Jefferson St. S.E. Mark Simons of Glencoe was southbound on Jefferson in a 2009 Ford and was approaching Selchow Avenue on icy roads. He lost control, avoided a fire hydrant and crashed into the front steps of a home and damaged the siding. The officer discovered a blown-out tire may have been the reason for the crash.
At 3:17 p.m., a crash occurred in the Hutchinson Event Center parking lot. Gary Kurth of Hutchinson was backing his 2003 Chevrolet out of a parking space. Judith Haekenkamp was coming down the lane and saw Kurth backing up. She tried to stop but she couldn't and hit Kurth, causing minor damage to both vehicles.
