Keeping up with winter

Just when we thought spring was here to stay, the National Weather Service issued a winter storm for McLeod County. The storm watch is in effect from Wednesday night through Friday afternoon.

A strong storm system will bring chances for rain, snow and strong winds. Rain is expected to begin by Wednesday morning and transition to a mix of rain, snow and sleet late Wednesday morning. A band of moderate to heavy snow will likely arrive Wednesday evening and continue through Thursday.

Winds will increase Wednesday night and likely gust 35 to 40 mph on Thursday. This could lead to areas of blowing and drifting snow. Blizzard conditions are possible.

Keep your eye on the sky if you have travel in your plans. Watch for updates on the Leader website and Facebook page.
