Adam Rein, 24, of Buffalo Lake was reported missing Thursday and his car was found submerged in a drainage ditch.

A body believed to be that of a missing Buffalo Lake man was found Saturday about a mile from his submerged vehicle.

Adam Michael Rein, 24, was last seen Tuesday night leaving an establishment in Hector. He was reported missing Thursday evening, and later that day his vehicle was found submerged in a drainage ditch on 800th Avenue, west of Renville County Road 22 and northeast of Hector.

The sheriff’s office performed searches Thursday, Friday and Saturday with help from members of the Buffalo Lake police and fire departments, Hector police and fire departments, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, and North Star Search and Rescue, a nonprofit group that handles tracking and cadaver dogs.

The body of an adult male believed to be Rein was found at about 12:12 p.m. Saturday in the drainage ditch approximately 1 mile downstream from the site of his submerged vehicle. It was sent to the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy and identity confirmation.
