Hutchinson High School students started Homecoming Week with plenty of spirit.

The Homecoming Court and royalty candidates were named Friday, and when students returned to school Monday they dressed in their best — best pajamas. On Tuesday, they came dressed in neon colors.

The first big community event is tonight at the Community Homecoming Pep Rally at 6 p.m. at Library Square. The event starts with a social hour, and at 6:30 p.m. the festivities will kick off.

The community pep fest started last year as a team-up between the Student Council and parents of band students. Money will be raised for the music department at Wednesday’s celebration.

On Friday, the Hutchinson High School ribbon-cutting ceremony is at 5 p.m. It will celebrate the completed renovation of Hutchinson High School, which was the major component of a $45 million bond referendum voters approved in 2015.

Tailgating for the home football game begins at 5:30 p.m. behind S.R. Knutson Field. There will be a United Way chili feed, and Band Boosters will sell concessions. Keep your eyes and ears open for the Hutchinson High School band.

The Wall of Fame induction is at 6:40 p.m. at S.R. Knutson Field.

The Homecoming football game begins at 7 p.m. against the Rocori Spartans. At half time, teachers selected to receive classroom grants from the ISD 423 Foundation’s Tiger Fund will be recognized.

If you want to see the inside of Hutchinson High School for yourself, you can join a tour Saturday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
