police patch

Hutchinson police have received calls during the past several weeks regarding a common phone scam. Residents say the IRS is calling to demand payments of money it claims they owe. Police Chief Daniel Hatten is urging residents to refrain from paying the callers.

The IRS will not contact individuals by phone or ask for credit card information. The scammers primarily target vulnerable people such as the elderly and non-native English speakers.

If you suspect you have been the target or victim of a phone scam, contact Hutchinson Police Services at 320-587-2242.
