Diane and Chris Leonard at Down with Diabetes Gala

Diane and Chris Leonard sang "Santa Bring My Baby Back to Me" at the Down with Diabetes Gala.

"As a group we're changing lives," Bobby Paulson announced Saturday night at the fourth annual Down with Diabetes Gala at Crow River Winery.

The organization, which raises money to send children with diabetes to Camp Needlepoint and Camp Sweet Life, raised $700 in 2016. This year, it raised $3,000 through fundraising.

Attendance at the gala was up too — from 114 in 2016 to more than 200 this year.

Following dinner and a short presentation, music was provided by John "A-Frame" Beck, Krista Green and Chris and Diane Leonard.

Down with Diabetes was founded in 2014 by Bobby and Beth Paulson, Krista Green and Tricia Kiewel. They saw a need for a group to get together and talk. They had 10 people show up for their first meeting.

"We need something like this especially since insurance isn't covering it," Green said at the time.
