Today, we’re announcing the launch of our new 2-in-1 app for the Owatonna People’s Press. It will help you stay on top of local news and sports, as well as see obits, opinion, state, national and world news, advertising, and everything else you expect from us, in the online format that best works for you.

The best news? It will be FREE for the entire month of August for all readers, subscribers or not.

The new 2-in-1 app of the Owatonna People’s Press is available to all readers for free during the month of August. The app offers access to both the e-edition (a digital replica of the latest print edition) and the live website (where the latest news, sports, obits and more content can be found individually).

Our new 2-in-1 app, powered by Tecnavia, will allow you to see and toggle between our popular e-edition — an electronic scrollable copy of our print paper with many user-friendly features — and our live owatonna.com website. Our previous app only allowed users to access the e-edition.

How to use the 2-in-1 app

So how to find and use the new app? It is free to download from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store, and free to use if you have a subscription to Owatonna People’s Press.

And, again, it will be FREE for the entire month of August for all readers. After the month of August, a subscription to the People's Press will be needed to access content on the app beyond a few free articles per month.

Scan the appropriate QR code to be taken to either the Apple app store or the Android (Google Play) app store to get the Owatonna People’s Press 2-in-1 app.

Once you have downloaded it, go ahead and open up the app. You’ll be asked at that point whether you want to default to the e-edition or to the live website. Choose one or the other to start. You’ll be able to change that up later, anytime you like.

Live website

If you start out on the live website, click on the three stacked dashes in the upper-left-hand corner. A full menu will appear that will allow you to navigate between our different news sections, from news to sports to obituaries, or simply click over to the e-edition by tapping “e-edition” in that menu.

E-edition

If you’ve been a regular user of our previous Owatonna People’s Press app, the e-edition side of our new app will look familiar. It has all of the same features you’ve come to know, including thumbnails of every recent edition that you can fully access by clicking on any of them, and even a setting that allows you to listen to articles as they’re read out loud to you.

To return to the live website, click on the home icon at the center bottom of the page and you’ll be back to reading live news.

Thanks again for reading the Owatonna People’s Press. We look forward to continuing to provide the news you need and want in the format that best works for you, into the future.
