Soybean tractor-trailer

A tractor-trailer loaded with soybeans was stolen recently from a bin site in Meeker County.

Mondays usually aren’t great. That was especially true for Craig Weseman and Sons in Meeker County this week when the crew returned to work at a bin site north of Grove City.

“They realized one of the trucks was gone,” said family member Tiffanie Weseman.

The semitrailer was loaded the night before with soybeans.

When she was asked to help get the word out, Tiffanie took to Facebook — both on Real Life in Litchfield and on her own page — to post pictures and ask if anyone had seen it. The post was made at about 10 a.m., she said.

“We heard something back at about 4 p.m. from someone who thought they knew something about it,” Tiffanie said.

The person who contacted Tiffanie on Facebook drove around and looked, and then sent another Facebook message, saying where the semitrailer was. Tiffanie said the truck was found in Hawick, a small town in Kandiyohi County about 20 minutes north of the bin site.

The Meeker County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident, which is being treated as a theft. Investigators have a few leads.

“It was just parked,” Meeker County Sheriff Brian Cruze said. “Did someone need to get somewhere and they stole the closest vehicle?”

He noted that whoever stole the vehicle had to have known how to drive a tractor-trailer.

“It’s home now,” Tiffanie said. “Everything is intact. There is no damage we can see as of right now.”

She said it was a relief to have the semitrailer and its cargo back, adding, “that’s our business. That’s our livelihood.”
