Flashing beaon

The Minnesota Department of Transportation, in conjunction with the city of Litchfield and its engineering firm, will hold an open house Tuesday, Nov. 14, to gather input on a flashing beacon at the intersection of Third Street and Sibley Avenue (U.S. Highway 12) in downtown Litchfield. The beacon is being tested as an alternative to a stoplight.

Next week, the public can give feedback on a flashing beacon that's being tested at the intersection of Third Street and Sibley Avenue (U.S. Highway 12) in downtown Litchfield.

The public is invited to attend an open house on a Highway 12 Sibley Avenue reconstruction project, slated for 2019. MnDOT officials, city staff and city engineering staff will be available from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, at Litchfield City Hall, 126 N. Marshall Ave.

MnDOT and the City of Litchfield are testing a rectangular rapid flashing beacon as an alternative to a stoplight at the intersection of Sibley Avenue (Highway 12) and Third Street in Litchfield. A 30-day test of this intersection started in October.

In a notice from MnDOT's Willmar-based District 8, officials said the open house will provide opportunities to learn more about the project, ask questions and provide feedback on the beacon test.
