Hutchinson Police Services

Hutchinson Police Services reported the following incidents:

MARCH 29: At 7:16 a.m., officers responded to a report of a damaged mailbox on the 300 block of Shady Ride Road Northwest. A vehicle hit the mailbox the previous evening at around 9 p.m. The cost to repair is estimated at $100. There are no suspects.

At 2:41 p.m., officers responded to a two-vehicle crash at 448 California St. N.W. Involved were a 2005 Honda Accord driven by Destiny Marie Medrano, 18, of Hutchinson and a 2016 Chevrolet Equinox driven by Carmen Mahendra Diaz, 30, of Hutchinson. According to a report, Medrano was northbound on West Boulevard in Country Club Terrace and Diaz was backing out of a driveway. The Accord collided with the rear passenger side of the Equinox. No injuries were reported. No vehicles were towed. No citation was issued.

APRIL 2: At 12:31 p.m., officers made contact with a woman who had an active warrant at Queen’s Inn, 200 State Highway 7 E. Kayla Dominique-Pearl Greer, 22, of Silver Lake was taken into custody for allegedly failing to appear in court on a misdemeanor domestic assault charge. Greer was taken to McLeod County Jail.

APRIL 3: At 7:16 a.m., officers responded to a report of a suspicious person in the area of School Road Southwest and South Grade Road Southwest. They made contact with Crystal Kay Vanausdle, 39, of Roseville, who was taken into custody on Anoka, Hennepin and Dakota county warrants for drug, financial and probation violation charges. She was taken to McLeod County Jail.

APRIL 4: At 2:01 p.m., officers responded to a two-vehicle crash in the Hutchinson Health parking lot. Involved were a 2005 Pontiac Montana driven by Celina Rosina Hoff, 93, of Hutchinson and a 2021 Nissan Sentra driven by Andrew Robert Smith, 39, of Winnemucca, Nevada. The Pontiac was backing out of a parking spot as the Nissan was driving past. It struck the back end of the Nissan. No injuries were reported. There were no tows. Both vehicles sustained minor damage. No citations were issued.

At 9:03 p.m., officers responded to a report of theft at Library Square. A large foam letter “P” was missing from a display that spelled out “HOPE.” The estimated cost to replace the letter is $400.

At 5:03 p.m., officers responded to a bicycle vs. car crash in the area of Main Street and Second Avenue Southwest. Brenda Lee Pulkrabek, 55, of Hutchinson, who was driving a 2011 Subaru Forester, said she was slowly exiting the alleyway that runs parallel between Franklin Avenue Southwest and Main Street South at Second Avenue Southwest when a bicycle struck the front end of her vehicle. She left her vehicle to speak with the juvenile male on a green bicycle to make sure he was OK. The male said he was fine and continued walking up Second Avenue Southwest with his bike. The driver then reported the incident at the police department. No injuries were reported. Police were not able to make contact with the juvenile. No citations were issued. It is against city ordinance to ride a bicycle on sidewalks in the downtown area.

At 3 p.m., officers responded to a three-vehicle crash in the area of State Highway 15 South and Freemont Avenue Southeast. All three vehicles were northbound on State Highway 15 near Freemont Avenue Southeast. Traffic ahead was stopped for a red light at South Grade Road. According to police, a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Brian Krueger, 25, of Hutchinson struck the rear end of a 2012 Ford Focus driven by Carlos Bolanos, 20, of Hutchinson, which caused it to strike the back end of a 2021 Lexus NX driven by Michael Becker, 72, of Hutchinson. An ambulance arrived to check for injuries, but no one was transported. No vehicles were towed. Krueger was cited.

APRIL 6: At 11:50 a.m., officers responded to a driving complaint in the Menard’s parking lot. An 81-year-old man from Norwood Young America was driving through the lot when he struck an unoccupied parked vehicle and sideswiped a nearby light pole. He continued northbound, according to a report, and struck another light pole in the lot. There were no injuries or tows. Both vehicles sustained moderate damage but were functional. The light poles sustained minor damage. The man was taken by Allina Ambulance to a nearby medical center for further evaluation. No citations were issued.

At 4:54 p.m., officers responded to a report of theft on the 100 block of McLeod Avenue Northeast. A caller said a package was delivered to their residence and that someone had taken the contents and left it by the mailbox. The caller said a similar incident occurred at the beginning of March. The total loss is $60. There are no suspects.

APRIL 7: At 5:05 p.m., officers responded to a report of fraud on the 200 block of Griffin Avenue Northeast. A man said he was called by someone claiming to be from Netflix and claimed he owed a substantial amount of money. The caller transferred the man to other departments to validate the claim. The caller required gift cards to be purchased to resolve the matter. The man gave a total of $2,500 in gift cards to the caller. There are no suspects at this time and no funds have been recovered.

At 8:46 p.m., officers responded to a two-vehicle crash at Tiger Elementary. Both vehicles were southbound on School Road. A 2010 Kia Forte driven by Hilda Azennet Garcia, 27, of Hutchinson slowed to make a left turn at the school. A 2004 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Mark Steven Worshek, 46, of Hutchinson was directly behind and struck the rear of the Kia Forte. There were no injuries or tows. Both vehicles sustained minor damage. Worshek was cited.

APRIL 8: At 8:19 a.m., the city of Hutchinson reported a fire hydrant had been struck and damaged in the area of West Pishney Lane Southwest and East Pishney Lane Southwest. Tire marks could be seen on the curb and in the grass near the hydrant. No one witnessed the event. The cost to repair was $710.

At 11:49 a.m., officers contacted a man with an active warrant at Queen’s Inn. Jason Lawrence Pollock, 50, of Hutchinson was taken into custody for alleged contempt of court on a felony domestic assault charge out of McLeod County. He was taken to McLeod County Jail.

At 6:11 p.m., officers responded to a report of a hit-and-run crash in the area of Main Street North and Fifth Avenue Northeast. A 2011 Kia Optima driven by Chloe Grace Stock, 18, of Hutchinson was northbound on Main Street when it signaled to turn eastbound onto Fifth Avenue Northeast. A second vehicle failed to yield, struck the rear left corner of the Kia Optima, and continued northbound on Main Street North. The unknown, second vehicle is believed to have front-end damage on the right side. It may be a newer Ford Explorer model. No injuries were reported.

APRIL 10: At 1;40 a.m., officers made contact with a suspicious vehicle in the area of Arch Street Southeast and Fourth Avenue Northeast. They searched the vehicle and Angelina Mari Saenz, 21, of Hutchinson was cited for allegedly possessing and selling a small amount of marijuana.

At 9:30 p.m., officers responded to a two-vehicle crash in the area of Century Avenue Southwest and Boston Street Southwest. A 2018 Kia Sorento driven by Carter Dean Weigel, 27, of Hutchinson was eastbound and stopped at the intersection. It then continued forward. According to a report, a 2008 GMC Sierra driven by Tyle Ross Hart, 19, of Hutchinson was northbound and approaching the intersection, but failed to yield. The vehicles collided. There were no injuries or tows with all occupants wearing seatbelts. The Kia Sorento sustained moderate damage to the right rear passenger door but was functional. The GMC Sierra sustained moderate damage to the front bumper but was functional. Hart was cited.

APRIL 15: At 5:18 p.m., officers responded to a report of a hit-and-run crash at the Walmart parking lot. According to a report, a 2018 GMC Sierra driven by Andrew Gerald Fank, 46, of Cosmos backed out of a parking space and hit the back end of a 2022 Ford F350, which was unoccupied but owned by Ahron Bradley Krumrey, 34, of Buffalo Lake. Fank reportedly left the scene but police later made contact. There were no injuries, tows or citations. Minor damage to the Ford F350 was reported.
