Hutchinson Police Services reported the following incidents:

DEC. 11: At 1:24 p.m., identity theft was reported by a Sleepy Eye police officer. The officer made contact with Hutchinson police after a search warrant had been executed and 43 names with Social Security numbers and banking information were found. One name belonged to a Hutchinson resident, who was then contacted. The victim found no evidence of any fraudulent activity but was told to keep close watch. Sleepy Eye officers do not believe any of the information has been used at this time.

DEC. 14: At 7:50 p.m., a crash occurred at the intersection of Roberts Road and School Road. Jason Alferness of Hutchinson was southbound on School Road in a 2002 Dodge and came to a stop at the stop sign first. Doreen Metts of Hutchinson was eastbound on Roberts in a 2008 Chrysler and came to a stop at the stop sign second but proceeded without waiting and struck Alferness. Both vehicles received moderate damage and needed to be towed. Metts was cited for failure to yield right of way.

DEC. 16: At 5:47 p.m., a crash occurred in the Hutchinson Mall parking lot. Sharon Berry of Lester Prairie was backing her 2002 Dodge from her parking space and backed into a parked 2007 Acura registered to Christian Wagner of Montevideo. There was minor damage to both vehicles.

DEC. 18: At 6:41 p.m., a crash occurred on the State Highway 7 service road in front of Hutch Bowl. Dakota Damlow of Hutchinson was exiting the Hutch Bowl parking lot in a 2003 Cadillac and did not see any traffic approaching. He pulled out and was hit by Nancy Thompson of Hutchinson driving a 2004 Ford. There was minor damage to Damlow's vehicle and Thompson's received moderate damage and needed to be towed. Damlow was cited for failure to yield right of way.

DEC. 19: At 5:41 p.m., a crash occurred at the intersection of Roberts Road and Lake Street. The two drivers exchanged information and left the scene. After assessing the damage to her 2014 GMC, Jessica Dragt of Hutchinson called police to report the accident. She said traffic was backed up at the intersection and while she was moving forward, a 16-year-old Hutchinson boy in a 1999 Ford rear-ended her. The officer called the boy and he agreed with the statement. Both vehicles received moderate damage and no citations were issued.

DEC. 20: At 8:30 a.m., a search warrant was executed in Winsted by a Hutchinson police officer on the task force. The officers arrived at the Second Street South address and found a baggie of psilocybin mushrooms in the toilet, which field-tested positive and totaled 12.6 grams; white and brown crystal shards were found in the pipes of the toilet and in a baggie in a room of the residence, which field-tested positive for methamphetamines and totaled 0.9 grams; and two pink pills were found in a purse, which field-tested positive for MDMA (ecstasy). Amanda Lynn Schermann, 32, of Winsted was arrested and taken to the McLeod County Jail for one felony count each of fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance of psilocybin mushrooms, methamphetamines and MDMA.

At 8:44 a.m., a theft was reported in the 600 block of Franklin Street by an employee of Hutchinson Utilities. He told the officer a meter was tampered with, which had been disconnected at 9:10 a.m. on Dec. 19. Total value was $2.09 for electricity, a $40 service charge and a $100 charge for tampering. The officer attempted to talk with the residents but no one would answer the door. A new lock box was put on the meter.

At 9:16 a.m., a theft was reported in the 700 block of North High Drive. The victim said he noticed the lock was cut off the door of his shed. Missing was a jigsaw valued at $15. The victim spoke with family two houses away and they had found a bolt cutter in their yard, which was taken as evidence.

At 3:11 p.m., a resident from the apartments at 987 Echo Drive S.E. called to report a theft. A package had been delivered between 10 a.m. and noon and placed in front of her door. Someone opened the package and stole the organic food that was inside, valued at $20. There are no suspects.

At 5:08 p.m., a disturbance was reported at Echo Manor Apartments, 220 Echo Circle. While the officers were en route, they were notified that one of the individuals had a warrant. When they arrived, they listened and could not hear any noises from the apartment. Before they could knock, the door opened and a woman was leaving. She admitted she knew she had a warrant and would be arrested so she was trying to leave before they arrived. The disturbance was only a verbal disagreement between her and a man. The dispatcher confirmed two warrants for Desirey Ginger York, 36, of Garden City, Minnesota. One was a gross misdemeanor body-only warrant out of Sibley County for failure to comply with conditions of release. The other was a warrant out of McLeod County for failure to appear on an original charge of felony fifth-degree possession. She was arrested and taken to the McLeod County Jail.

DEC. 21: At 12:17 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop for a broken taillight and erratic driving at the intersection of Washington Avenue and Main Street. As the officer approached the driver's window, he could smell marijuana coming from the vehicle. He believed the driver was under the influence of alcohol and/or a controlled substance. Dennis Patrick Johnson, 48, of Scottsdale, Arizona, was identified and found to have a warrant out of McLeod County for an original charge of gross misdemeanor DWI and misdemeanor open bottle with $500 cash bail or $2,500 bond. The vehicle was searched and various controlled substances and firearms were found. He had a blood alcohol content of 0.08 percent and allegedly admitted to smoking methamphetamine and marijuana so he was taken to Hutchinson Hospital with a search warrant for blood. He has three previous DUIs, two in Minnesota and one in Arizona. The vehicle was towed and inventoried and found was a baggie with a white powder, which field-tested positive for methamphetamine and weighed 2.9 grams and cannabis oil, which field-tested positive for THC. Johnson was charged with felony fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine; gross misdemeanor fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance, marijuana oil; felony first-degree DWI; and felony first-degree DWI, combination of alcohol and a controlled substance.
