A jury trial for Timothy Daniel Miller, who's accused of shaking an infant, is scheduled for Aug. 14.
Miller, 23, of Glencoe had a previous trial date, but it was rescheduled at the request of the defense.
A July 18 hearing is scheduled to present evidence regarding a statement Miller made, and whether or not it should be presented to a jury.
Miller was charged with felony first-degree assault in January after he allegedly shook a 5 1/2-month-old child. According to a criminal complaint, he was the sole caretaker of the child at the time. Prosecutors plan to seek a heavier-than-usual sentence, citing in court documents that the victim was especially vulnerable.
A medical examination found the child suffered a subdural hemorrhage and a massive brain injury.
