The McLeod County Board took the following actions unanimously at its Jan. 16 meeting:

GAMBLING: Approved a short-term gambling permit for McLeod Ducks Unlimited for an event Jan. 28 at Crow River Winery.

SIGNS: Approved the purchase of 4,250 rural address signs at a cost of $49,968 from Sign Solutions USA of West Fargo, North Dakota, with funds from the county surveying and GIS budget. The county maintains 4,483 rural address signs, with 4,100 of these signs needing replacement due to fading, peeling and deterioration or damage over the years. The remainder have either been added recently or replaced due to severe damage. The signs have a lifespan of 10 to 15 years and come with a 10-year warranty on the reflective sheeting. The last time the signs were replaced was in 2009.

GRANT: Approved a $10,000 County Veterans Service Office Operational Enhancement Grant Program agreement from Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs. The grant aims to increase the operating budgets of county veteran service offices to improve outreach and assist in the reintegration of combat veterans.

WORKSHOP: Approved a workshop for 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, at the McLeod County Government Center, 520 Chandler Ave., Glencoe.
