How to recognize a gas leak?
Signs of a gas leak may include:
- The sound of blowing gas
- Dirt being blown in the air
- Water bubbling or being blown into the air at a pond, creek, river or
other location with standing water
- Flames coming from the ground or burning above ground
- Dead or dying vegetation in a localized area
- The odor of natural gas
What to do if there is a gas pipeline leak?
Follow these steps:
- Extinguish all open flames & eliminate other sources of ignition
- Turn off & abandon equipment
- Do not attempt to remove machinery from the area
- Leave the area immediately
- Warn others in the vicinity & keep people away from the area
- Call 911
